Ok, you’ve got a great website but ask yourself this question. When possible clients think of your product, do they consider YOU the authority on the product? Is your company the place to go for the answer to their needs? If you can’t answer that question with a YES, then you have some work to do!
I’m assuming your website is fully optimized for your area. I work a lot with party rental companies and fully optimized does NOT mean you’ve listed a bunch of search terms like “slide rental, bounce house rental, inflatatable games, etc under your keyword phrases.
Fully optimized means that you’ve found specific keyword phrases that customers will use to find your product in your area. Your site will use these keywords in the title, keywords, url, picture tagging, text and more. However, even the best optimized site and can always be better and we’ll show you some of the ways here.
Since I work so much with the entertainment industry, I’m going to use party rentals as an example for the following suggestions.
1) Add a blog. In most cases you can add a wordpress blog in a subdirectory of your main site. And the biggest reason to do this is that you can use very specific keyword phrases to generate customers and interest. For instance, this post is going on my blog. If you actually click on the title of the post, it will take you to a page that includes the title in the url as well as in the title tag. This is a great way to get the search engines to find you. But that’s not the only reason for the blog. Once you write an article, make sure to post it to your blog. Then, write some different versions of that article and start submitting it to only article directories and other blogs. You would be surprised at how many others would like YOUR article on their blog. Of course, the article needs to be informative and benefit others. At the bottom of the article, write a resource box telling just a bit about your company and make sure to link back to your company using your keyword phrase as the link text.
It’s that simple, soon other sites will be pointing to yours AND when customers search using a specific phrase they’ll not only see your site, but see articles written about your site!
2) Start a Facebook Fan Page – (not a personal page) Your fan page should be used to tell about your equipment, events, entertainment tips and anything else you’d like to share with friends and fans. I try to make my facebook posts fairly short. What you really want from Facebook is interaction with others. You do this by asking questions and sharing info on a daily basis.
3) Use Twitter – I used to think it was dumb, but to be honest, you can get a lot of business from twitter if you share good info as opposed to garbage. Twitter is NOT about what you had for lunch, but it’s a great place to share ideas. Holiday party tips, entertainment tips, even birthday party tips work well. Roll that in with some inspirational quotes and jokes and you can get a GREAT twitter following.
Of course, the thing to remember is to use all three of these as a way to build friends and followers that are very interested in your product. I always look at a number of things before doing posts. The first is always my site ranking with certain keyword phrases. If it’s low, then that’s the phrase I use for an article and I sprinkle posts throughout twitter and facebook using the same phrases.
If you try these steps you’ll be amazed at the amount of traffic that will come to your site. Don’t try and get clients….build friendships! The best course I ever had on social media said it all….your customers need to Know, Like & Trust you before they really want to do business with you. Once you have that confidence from them….they’ll be coming back again and again and before you know it, YOU will be the place to go to satisfy the client needs in your area!
If you’re interested in building your “Know, Like & Trust” factor with potential clients but you don’t have the time or you’re just not sure where to start, email me ( cheryl@crackerjack-consulting.com) . In most cases you’ll find that the cost of having someone else manage this will save you money in the long run!
Feel free to post questions here…I’ll try to answer the best I can!
